How much does it cost to buy a scooter in Bali? As of 20 October 2026, a new one costs from IDR 18.4 million (Yamaha Mio M3 SP, about €909 or $1,022) to IDR 47.2 million (Yamaha NMAX Turbo Tech Max Ultimate), leaving aside maxi-scooters and Vespas. The most common models sit in between at the Denpasar dealers: the Honda BeAT at IDR 20.6 million (about €1,016 or $1,143), the Scoopy at 25.4 million with accessories, the Yamaha NMAX Neo at 34.8 million and the Honda PCX 160 at 36.1 million. Second-hand, asking prices in Denpasar and Badung run from IDR 8.5 million for a 2012 BeAT to 39.5 million for a top-spec 2024 NMAX. By our calculations, a scooter loses 8 to 25% of its value in the first year, 16 to 32% over three years and 27 to 37% over five to six years. To put a used scooter in your name, allow IDR 385,000 in police fees: the transfer duty (BBN-KB) no longer applies to second-hand vehicles.

Conversions use the European Central Bank reference rate of 19 October 2026 (€1 = IDR 20,253.16) and Bank Indonesia's JISDOR rate of 20 October 2026 (US$1 = IDR 18,006). Unless stated otherwise, all prices are in Indonesian rupiah (IDR) and were checked on 20 October 2026.

How much does a new Honda scooter cost in Bali in 2026?

Honda publishes only one official price list, and it is for Jakarta. On PT Astra Honda Motor's price page, the label leaves no room for doubt: "Harga OTR DKI Jakarta mulai 1 Oktober 2026", meaning the on-the-road price in Jakarta in force since 1 October 2026. Even with Bali province and the city of Denpasar selected, the manufacturer's site returns the national figures: there is no Bali-specific Honda price list.

The price you will actually pay in Denpasar is set by Astra Motor, Honda's official dealer network, which shows its prices city by city on its MotorkuX site, with no validity date. The table puts the two side by side.

Three caveats. In Denpasar, the Scoopy Fashion is only listed "with accessories" (25,420,000 and 25,530,000): the bare price is not shown. The same network's Vario 125 page has been taken down (it returns a 410 error): the only Bali price we found for this model comes from a Honda seller in Gianyar, 25,610,000, on a page last modified on 9 October 2026. That seller also lists the Scoopy at 27,575,000, IDR 2.2 million more than Astra Motor's lowest line, without saying which variant.

Finally, be wary of online price comparison sites. On 20 October 2026, oto.com's "Vario 160" page for Denpasar still showed a model that is no longer in the official range, and its PCX page put the PCX 160 CBS at IDR 30.94 million, less than the official Jakarta price (35 million). None of these pages is dated: they are no basis for a budget.

To choose the model itself (ground clearance, under-seat storage, how you will use it), see our comparison of the Scoopy, Vario, PCX, NMAX and ADV.

How much do new Yamahas and Vespas cost in Bali?

Yamaha, too, shows only recommended "OTR Jakarta" prices on Yamaha Indonesia's official site, variant by variant, with accessories included for the NMAX. For Bali, the most complete list is on the sales website of an official Yamaha dealer in Denpasar, VAT included and, according to the page, "dapat berubah sewaktu-waktu tanpa pemberitahuan" (subject to change at any time without notice). Its title says "Oktober 2026", but that month is inserted automatically and the page metadata show a last modification on 3 April 2026: the prices below are the ones displayed on the day we checked, with no firm validity date.

The cheapest scooter on the Bali list is the Mio M3 SP, at 18,400,000. The same page still lists an "All New Aerox 155" at 30,700,000, whose product page no longer appears on the official site: don't confuse it with the Aerox Alpha. One inconsistency worth knowing about: the best-sellers box shows the Fazzio Hybrid at 22,600,000 and the NMAX Turbo at 39,400,000, against 22,750,000 and 39,700,000 in the main table. Get the price in writing before you hand over a deposit.

For the Vespa, the premium benchmark, Vespa Indonesia's official site did not respond to our requests. With no manufacturer price list to go on, we use the January 2026 OTR Jakarta list published by Viva: LX 150 at IDR 46.5 million (about €2,296 or $2,582), Primavera 150 ABS at 55 million, Sprint 150 ABS at 58.5 million, Sprint S at 61 million, GTS Classic 150 at 75 million and GTS Super Tech 300 at 167 million. On Lokalfinds, the five new Vespas offered in Denpasar reflect their sellers' catalogue: the LX and the Sprint S are listed IDR 2.9 and 3.1 million above those Jakarta prices.

Why do prices differ between Bali and Jakarta?

Because an "OTR" price is not a factory price. According to the definition set out by detikOto, it covers the vehicle, the annual tax (PKB), the first-registration duty (BBN-KB), the physical inspection, the BPKB and the STNK, according to each region's policy. In Bali, provincial regulation No. 1 of 2024 sets BBN-KB at 12% of the taxable value; since 5 January 2025, a surcharge (opsen) equal to 66% of that duty has been added on top, paid to the regencies (kabupaten) and cities.

The gaps we measured, variant by variant, are not the same from one brand to the other, though. At Honda, Astra Motor's Denpasar price is IDR 1.06 to 1.62 million above the official Jakarta price on every variant compared bar one, or +2.9% (ADV 160) to +6.5% (Genio); the exception, the Stylo 160 ABS Special, costs only IDR 114,000 more. At Yamaha, the gap runs from −0.1 million (Fazzio) to +1.2 million (XMAX): the NMAX costs IDR 235,000 to 255,000 more in Bali (up to 495,000 on special-livery editions), the Aerox Alpha 830,000 to 915,000 more, and the Fazzio is actually IDR 70,000 to 105,000 cheaper than in Jakarta. Since provincial taxes are the same for both brands, the gap also comes down to each network's pricing policy.

Another trend: new prices are going up. The Scoopy Fashion was launched at 22,876,000 (OTR Jakarta) in November 2025; the official list in force since 1 October 2026 shows it at 23,376,000, up IDR 500,000 (+2.2%) in less than a year. That increase feeds into the depreciation calculation further down.

How much does a used scooter cost in Bali?

We found no official used-price guide for two-wheelers in Indonesia, and no public database of transaction prices. The best benchmark available is the listings themselves. On 20 October 2026, we checked an aggregator that pulls in OLX listings from Denpasar and Badung, taking the first page of results for each model (18 listings). Three caveats: the visible listings date from 7 July to 26 August 2026, most of them come from professional dealers, and some are reposted several times. Every figure is an asking price: none of them tells you what the scooter actually sold for.

One more limitation: the aggregator's counters on 20 October (318 results for the Scoopy, 42 for the Vario 160, 197 for the PCX) are exactly the same as in our check of 8 September 2026. The database no longer seems to be updated: these prices describe the market in summer 2026, not in October.

At the same age, Denpasar and Jakarta prices line up. At the end of October 2025, a West Jakarta dealer interviewed by Kompas put 2023 PCX 160s, then about two years old, at 27 to 29 million. In summer 2026, Denpasar's 2024 PCX 160s, at the same age, were listed at 27.7 to 27.95 million.

Before you pay, run through our checks before buying a used scooter: a low price means nothing if the papers aren't in order.

What the 33 listings on Lokalfinds tell us

As of 20 October 2026, Lokalfinds had 33 active listings of two-wheelers for sale (parts and helmets under IDR 5 million excluded): 28 scooters and 5 motorbikes. Of the scooters, 11 are listed as new and 17 as used. These are asking prices, not agreed sale prices. Those of the 17 used scooters range from IDR 12.2 million (a 2016 BeAT sold with its papers) to 70.75 million (a 2025 XMAX 250), with a median of 24.9 million (about €1,229 or $1,383). Denpasar accounts for 19 of the 33 listings; the rest are spread across Sanur, Kerobokan, Ubud, Nusa Dua, Seminyak and Canggu.

A sample this small is no substitute for a price guide, but it shows two things.

First, the four new Yamahas offered in Kerobokan match the Bali Yamaha dealer's list to the rupiah: Fazzio Hybrid at 22,750,000, All New Aerox 155 at 30,700,000, NMAX Neo at 34,800,000, NMAX Turbo Tech Max at 45,200,000. These listings reflect a dealership catalogue, not a neighbourhood price.

Second, the private sellers and dealers who list with us often ask a little less than the aggregator's showrooms. Across nine comparable pairs, same model and same model year:

Six of the nine listings sit below the aggregator's range, one within it, two above. On a sample this small, and with two months between the two checks, that is an observation, not a rule. Current listings are in the Lokalfinds scooters and motorbikes for sale section.

How much value does a scooter lose after 1, 3 and 5 years?

No public source measures scooter depreciation in Bali, so we worked it out: the used asking price on the aggregator, divided by the current new price of the same model in Bali (Astra Motor Denpasar for Honda, the Bali dealer for Yamaha; the official national price for the Vario 125, for lack of a Bali price). The used Vario 160 is compared with the Vario Evo 160, which replaced it in the official range.

About 10 years (2016–2017)−38% to −57%2017 BeAT −38% · 2016–2017 Scoopy −47% to −57%

Four biases to bear in mind. We compare with today's new price, which is higher than what buyers paid at the time: real depreciation is a little lower than the table shows. Generations change: the Scoopy was renewed in November 2025, the Vario 125 on 1 December 2025. These are asking prices, mostly from showrooms. And stated mileages range from 5,000 to 75,000 km.

What stands out all the same: the first year costs the most in rupiah. A new Vario Evo 160 CBS costs 29.59 million, while a 2025 Vario 160 is listed at 24.6 million: a 5 million gap (about €246 or $277). On this model, the gap between a 2023 and a 2022 shrinks to 0.5 to 3.3 million. On the Scoopy, the 2022 and 2023 model years carry the same asking price, 18 million. Models part ways from the first year: −8% for the ADV 160 CBS or the NMAX Neo S, −25% for the Genio.

What do you pay on top of the purchase price: tax, transfer, plates, insurance?

On a new scooter bought at the OTR price, first registration is already paid for. On a used one, four items come into play. The paperwork itself is covered in our guide to STNK, BPKB and annual tax; here are the amounts.

Transfer into the buyer's name (balik nama). The transfer duty on used vehicles is gone. Law No. 1 of 2022 limits BBN-KB to the "penyerahan pertama", the first handover of a vehicle, and states that subsequent resales are not subject to it; the Indonesian National Police confirms this for used vehicles. What remains are the police fees set by Government Regulation No. 76 of 2020, plus the annual SWDKLLJ contribution:

Fee (two-wheeler)Amount (IDR)When
New STNK (registration certificate)100,000on transfer
Number plates (TNKB), per pair60,000on transfer
BPKB for a change of ownership225,000on transfer
Out-of-region transfer certificate150,000only if the scooter is registered outside Bali
STNK renewal100,000every 5 years, with a physical inspection
SWDKLLJ (Jasa Raharja accident contribution)35,000 (press figure)every year, with the tax

That comes to IDR 385,000 (about €19 or $21) to transfer a scooter already registered in Bali, or 535,000 if it comes from another province. The physical check of the frame and engine numbers is mandatory. The SWDKLLJ amount comes from the specialist press: Jasa Raharja's website was returning an error when we checked.

You will sometimes see IDR 495,000 quoted. That figure adds up the four lines of a fee schedule published by Kompas on 7 January 2026. The schedule relies on regulation 60/2016, since repealed by regulation 76/2020, counts the STNK at 60,000 and lists the 150,000 transfer fee, which is only due on a vehicle coming from another region. The schedule in force, published by the national police, sets the STNK at 100,000.

Annual tax (PKB). In Bali, it is 1.055% of the taxable value for a vehicle up to 200 cc (1.2% above that, which covers the XMAX 250), with no progressive rate based on how many vehicles you own. On top comes the opsen, a surcharge equal to 66% of the tax due, in force since 5 January 2025 (articles 83 and 191 of Law No. 1 of 2022). In 2026, the province grants an 8% discount on the principal up to 200 cc, plus 10% if you have no arrears. As a ballpark, by our own calculation: for an NMAX with a taxable value of 21.2 million as recorded in Jakarta, tax plus opsen come to about IDR 371,000 before the 2026 discounts, plus the 35,000 SWDKLLJ, provided the taxable value used in Bali is the same, which we were unable to verify. The exact amount is shown on the STNK and in the SIGNAL app.

Worth knowing if you have your eye on a used scooter with unpaid tax: from 9 September to 11 November 2026, Governor Regulation No. 23 of 2026 wipes out, according to Bapenda Bali as quoted by detikOto, the tax principal from the third year of arrears onwards, along with penalties for previous years. Insist that the seller settles up before the sale, not after.

DK plates. A scooter registered in another province switches to Bali plates when it is transferred: the IDR 150,000 exit certificate is added to the 385,000 for the transfer, making 535,000. We found no text requiring private individuals to have DK plates. The only requirement we found concerns passenger transport: in January 2025, Grab told the Antara news agency that it requires its partner drivers in Bali to be domiciled on the island and to use a DK-plated vehicle, under a provincial regulation on private-hire vehicles.

Insurance. The SWDKLLJ paid with the tax is, as its Indonesian name says, a compulsory contribution to the road accident fund, not insurance for your scooter. For theft or damage cover, we could not find any public rate card: ask an insurer for a written quote.

Should you buy a new or used scooter in Bali?

The numbers settle it, depending on how long you stay. Over one year, new is expensive: going by today's asking price for a 2025 Vario 160, 24.6 million, a Vario Evo 160 bought for 29.59 million would lose about 5 million in its first year, before tax and maintenance. On a Scoopy, the same theoretical loss is 3.5 to 4.9 million.

A three- or four-year-old scooter loses far less per year: 0.5 to 3.3 million between a 2023 and a 2022 Vario 160, nothing between a 2023 and a 2022 Scoopy. Between new and used, then, a recent used scooter keeps the loss lowest over a stay of one to three years, as long as you pay the market price and get papers that are in order. The transfer costs IDR 385,000, small change next to the price gap.

New makes sense in three cases: you are staying several years, which spreads out the first-year loss; you want a specific variant (ABS, RoadSync) that you can't find used; or the used price is barely any lower. That last case does happen: a 2026 ADV 160 CBS is listed at 36.6 to 36.8 million on the aggregator, against 38.97 million new, a gap of 2.2 to 2.4 million. On Lokalfinds, a 2025 XMAX 250 in "like new" condition is offered at 70.75 million, while a new XMAX C costs 71.25 million at the dealer. With a gap of around two million, new deserves a look.

For a stay of a few months, the question is no longer new or used but buy or rent: the month-by-month calculation is in renting or buying a scooter in Bali. If you rent, Fougere Bike, a Lokalfinds partner rental shop in Kerobokan, rents its scooters with no deposit, delivered and collected free of charge, helmet and raincoat included, with breakdown assistance. On 20 October 2026, Astra Motor's official network in Denpasar listed the Honda BeAT CBS at IDR 20,580,000 (about €1,016 or $1,143), the Scoopy from 25,420,000 with accessories, the Vario Evo 160 CBS at 29,590,000, the PCX 160 CBS at 36,060,000 and the ADV 160 from 38,970,000 to 43,860,000. At the Bali Yamaha dealer, the list displayed the same day runs from 18,400,000 (Mio M3 SP) to 78,450,000 (XMAX Tech Max), with the NMAX Neo at 34,800,000.

How much does a used scooter cost in Bali?

Based on Denpasar and Badung listings from summer 2026, checked on 20 October 2026, expect IDR 8.5 to 8.9 million for a 2012 BeAT, 11 to 13.5 million for a 2017 Scoopy, 20.5 to 21.9 million for a 2025 Scoopy, 24.6 million for a 2025 Vario 160, 27.7 to 27.95 million for a 2024 PCX 160 and 27 to 28 million for a 2023 NMAX. These are asking prices, mostly from showrooms. On Lokalfinds, the median for 17 used scooters was 24.9 million.

How much value does a scooter lose each year in Bali?

By our calculation on asking prices, a scooter loses 8 to 25% after one year, 16 to 32% after three years, 27 to 37% after five or six years and 38 to 57% after about ten years, compared with the October 2026 new price. The loss is steepest in the first year: about IDR 5 million on a Vario 160. Models part ways from that first year: −8% for the ADV 160 CBS or the NMAX Neo S, −25% for the Genio.

How much does it cost to transfer a used scooter into my name?

Since 5 January 2025, under Law No. 1 of 2022, the BBN-KB transfer duty is no longer charged on a used vehicle. What remains are the police fees under regulation 76/2020 for a two-wheeler: IDR 100,000 for the STNK, 60,000 for the plates and 225,000 for the BPKB, or IDR 385,000 in total. Add 150,000 if the scooter is registered outside Bali, plus the year's tax if it has not been paid.

What is the annual tax rate on a scooter in Bali in 2026?

The rate is 1.055% of the taxable value up to 200 cc, plus a surcharge (opsen) of 66% of the tax due, and IDR 35,000 of SWDKLLJ. In 2026, the province takes 8% off the principal, and another 10% if you have no arrears. For an NMAX with a taxable value of 21.2 million (a figure recorded in Jakarta), our calculation gives about IDR 371,000 in tax and opsen before discounts. The exact amount is shown on the STNK.

Is a scooter with plates from another province a problem?

We found no text that bars a private individual from riding in Bali on plates from another province. Switching to DK plates requires a transfer: when you buy a used scooter from another province, budget IDR 535,000 in total (STNK, plates, BPKB and the 150,000 exit certificate). The only requirement we found concerns passenger transport: in January 2025, Grab required its partner drivers in Bali to use a DK-plated vehicle.

Is it better to buy a new or used scooter in Bali?

For a stay of one to three years, a recent used scooter loses the least: from 0 to 3.3 million a year between two model years of a three- to four-year-old Scoopy or Vario 160, against about 5 million in the first year for a new Vario Evo 160. New makes sense if you are staying several years, if the variant you want (ABS, RoadSync) can't be found used, or if a recent used one costs only about two million less, like the 2026 ADV 160 CBS.
