FAQ: Kids' Toys in Bali
What does the SNI mark on a toy mean?
Industry Ministry Regulation 24/M-IND/PER/4/2013, amended several times since, makes the national SNI standard compulsory for toys meant for children aged 14 and under, whether made in Indonesia or imported. It is based on the ISO 8124 safety standard and limits certain substances (phthalates, azo dyes, formaldehyde). The rule applies to manufacturers and importers, not to families reselling.
What should I check on a second-hand toy?
That it is complete (count the cards and pieces of a board game), that no small part can come loose for a child under 3, that the battery compartment closes properly, and that the toy has no cracks or sharp edges.
Will an electric toy bought abroad work here?
The Indonesian grid runs at 230 V and 50 Hz, with type C and F sockets. Check the voltage on the charger of any battery-powered toy: “100-240 V” works with a simple plug adapter, a 110 V-only charger does not.
How do I resell my children's toys?
Three sharp photos in natural light, a precise title (item, brand, recommended age, condition, area) and a price in the middle of comparable listings. Bundling small toys into a lot often speeds up the sale. Handover happens in person.
